Under 9s b make a good start to their pre season

he U9b's played in the Deal Town Rangers tournament on Sunday.

There were two groups of 5 teams, with Whitstable being in group A, which included Eastry Ravens, DTR colts, Dover Rangers and DTR juniors.

Whitstable kicked off the first game against Dover Rangers and were creating many great chances but not being able to convert any of them. Jake G. produced a brilliant save to keep the scores level and with the game drawing to a close it looked like Whitstable might have to settle for a draw until Logan burst through and got the winning goal.

The second game was against DTR colts, and again Whitstable were playing some great football with their neat passing game, but against the run of play DTR scored a goal from long range. This only spurred Whitstable on to quickly draw level through a goal from Jake H. and then go on to win the game with a quick counter attack goal scored by Felix.

In the third game against Eastry Ravens, the confidence was now pouring into the team and Leo scored a great curling shot into the corner in the first minute. Logan then rounded off a comfortable display with a tap in.

In the final group against DTR Juniors, saw another great display against a fired up team, with Whitstable having to show their steely side, an impressive Hayden shepherding the defence brilliantly. The first goal was a wonder goal from Jake H with his left foot from well outside the area. The game was then nicely wrapped up by Zac after some great interplay from Joe and Felix.

The semi-final was against Schulz and Moore FC. The game was quite a cagey affair with Whitstable unable to break down a resolute defence. A long ball over the top saw Schulz take the lead and although Whitstable were giving everything to get an equaliser the ball just wouldn't fall for them. With time running out Schulz counter attacked and scored a second with a fortunate deflection.

Whitstable were out but can be proud of an amazing team effort and playing some brilliant passing football.
