Whitstable Town Football Club is delighted to collaborate with Whitstable Medical Practice (WMP) and its Patient Participation Group (PPG) to host a Blood Pressure Measurement Session.
Why do this? There is a national campaign to reduce early deaths from high blood pressure (hypertension) and to prescribe medication to prevent complications caused by long term untreated high blood pressure.
1 in 4 adults in England has 2 health conditions, the leading 6 are: cancer, cardio vascular disease (CVD), Musculo skeletal injuries, mental ill health, dementia and chronic respiratory disorders. CVD and some types of dementia are caused by hypertension.
The leading 6 account for 60% of ill health and early death in the UK
Who will measure my blood pressure? The volunteers of the PPG are either retired nurses, midwives, health visitors or members of the community who have had further training by staff from WMP. The equipment has been provided by WMP.
Does it hurt? No
Does it take long? No
Your numbers will be explained to you, and if necessary, sign posted for follow up
We look forward to seeing you on October 14th
