The league takes a short break now, with two cup games coming up for Whitstable Town, both at home.
Firstly, it’s the Quarter Final of the GoCardless Kent Senior Trophy against Fisher. The two teams last met in early November when the Oysters returned from London with a hard earned 2-1 win in a league fixture. The return meeting in the league has been postponed so that this rescheduled county cup game can be played. The last time the teams faced each other in Whitstable was for the promotion play-off semi-final when a late equaliser and successful penalty shootout secured Fisher a place in the final, but they were beaten by VCD Athletic.
Whitstable, of course, were runners up in the Kent Senior Trophy last season, losing 3-2 to Larkfield & New Hythe in the final at Maidstone. This season’s other Quarter Finals were played last week, while Fisher were playing their delayed FA Vase tie at Windsor & Eton, which they eventually won on penalties. These were the results:
Sutton Athletic 0 Rusthall 2
Erith & Belvedere 1 FC Elmstead 2
Punjab United 2 Bearsted 1
Both teams have a big date in the FA Vase Fifth Round next weekend (Saturday 7th February). The strength of the SCEFL Premier Division is once again evident, with three teams in the last sixteen of the national competition. Holders Whitstable host Cockfosters while Fisher travel to play the other remaining SCEFL team Punjab United.
