Whitstable Town Football Club was delighted to welcome the local stroke support group, Different Strokes Whitstable, to The Belmont this afternoon as members, families and supporters took part in a sponsored relay walk around the pitch.
As a community football club, we are always proud to open our doors to local groups and good causes, and today’s event was a fantastic example of the power of community, friendship and support.
The relay walk helped raise funds for Different Strokes, a charity that supports younger stroke survivors and their families. The organisation provides peer support, information, advice and exercise opportunities, helping stroke survivors rebuild confidence and reclaim their lives. The Whitstable support group offers an important local space for stroke survivors to connect, share experiences and support one another.
Fran Milne, Club Secretary at Whitstable Town Football Club, said:
“We were delighted to host Different Strokes at The Belmont. Whitstable Town is more than just a football club; we are a community club, and events like this show exactly why that matters. It was a privilege to support such an important local group and to see so many people come together for a brilliant cause.”
The club would like to congratulate everyone who took part in the sponsored relay walk and thank all those who have donated so far.
Donations can still be made via the Different Strokes Whitstable JustGiving campaign page here.
