Whitstable Town FC supports East Kent Suprs' suicide prevention bench campaign

The Oystermen were honoured to attend the unveiling of a new suicide prevention bench on Tankerton Slopes as part of the Legends on the Bench campaign.

Whitstable Town Football Club were greatly honoured to be invited to the unveiling of the new suicide prevention bench on Tankerton Slopes, installed by the East Kent Spurs Official Supporters Group as part of their Legends on the Bench campaign.

Through the inspiring project, the group has raised an incredible £28,000, funding the installation of 14 suicide prevention benches across East Kent.

The club is proud to have played a small part in supporting the campaign. In the summer of 2024, Whitstable Town FC hosted a charity fundraising match to help raise funds for the project, followed by a further charity fixture earlier this year.

Community involvement is incredibly important to everyone at the club, and it is both rewarding and humbling to see the impact these fundraising efforts have made, with the benches now in place and serving a vital purpose across the region.

A BENCH WITH A VITAL PURPOSE

These benches are much more than somewhere to sit.

Each one provides direct access to support services through contact numbers and QR codes, while built-in lighting ensures they remain a visible reminder that help and support are always available.

The campaign is a powerful reminder that anyone struggling or in need of support does not have to face things alone.

OUR CONGRATULATIONS

We would like to congratulate the East Kent Spurs Official Supporters Group on the success of this outstanding initiative and thank everyone who has supported the campaign.

We are proud to have played a small part in helping raise funds for such an important cause and to see the positive impact the project is now having across East Kent.

"Someone is always listening."
