Whitstable Town can confirm a number of changes to the first team squad as the Oystermen continue to strengthen their options and build for the season ahead.

Koby Yeboah joins the squad after developing through the Southend United academy before moving into senior football. The midfielder, who has gained experience at Aveley, Redbridge, Ipswich Wanderers, Brentwood Town and Canvey Island, will add further energy and competition to the middle of the park.

Mikey Berry arrives with considerable experience despite his young age. The attacking midfielder came through the Arsenal academy before joining Charlton Athletic at the age of 14, progressing through the Addicks’ youth system. Berry has since gained senior experience with Ashford United and Tonbridge Angels before joining Folkestone Invicta, where he played an important role in their Isthmian Premier Division title winning campaign last season.

Mason Hunter adds further options in defence and joins the Oystermen on a dual registration from Havant & Waterlooville. Hunter came through the academy system at Charlton Athletic and captained the club’s Under 21 side last season, gaining valuable experience at that level before moving into senior football.

Also returning to the Oystermen is Tijan Jadama, who joins from Ramsgate on an initial 28 day loan. Jadama is a familiar face at the YMS Stadium, having previously represented Whitstable before returning to Ramsgate, where he has enjoyed a successful spell and been part of a side that secured promotion to the Isthmian Premier Division.

Kane Rowland also makes his return to Whitstable, bringing plenty of history with the Oystermen.

Rowland first joined the club for the 2014/15 season, making 45 appearances and scoring 15 goals. He remained with the club into the following campaign, making 11 appearances before moving to Ramsgate in September 2015.

His return to Whitstable for the 2016/17 season proved particularly prolific, with Rowland finding the net 28 times in 42 appearances.

The experienced forward has since enjoyed spells with a number of clubs across Kent football and now returns to the Oystermen with a proven goalscoring record and plenty of previous experience in Whitstable colours.

The club can also confirm the arrival of Sebastian Amataj from Bromley. The 17 year old defender joins on an initial 28 day work experience youth loan and is an Albanian youth international, having represented his country at youth level.

There is also a new dual registration agreement with Barking involving Liam Boxall and Charlie Thomson.

Both players remain Whitstable Town players, with the agreement allowing them to feature for Barking to gain valuable minutes and maintain their match fitness when opportunities with the Oystermen are limited.

Importantly, both Liam and Charlie remain available to manager Lee Martin and Whitstable Town, giving the club greater flexibility while ensuring the players continue to get regular competitive football.

“We’ve been working extremely hard behind the scenes to strengthen the squad and I’m really pleased with the additions we’ve been able to make.

“We’ve brought in a mixture of experience and younger players with plenty of potential, and that’s important for us. Kane is someone who knows this club very well and his record in a Whitstable shirt speaks for itself. It’s great to have him back and we know what he can bring.

“Tijan also knows the club, while the likes of Koby, Mikey and Mason all bring different qualities and give us more competition for places. Mason captaining Charlton Under 21s last season is a great experience for a young player and we’re looking forward to seeing what he can bring.

“Sebastian is another exciting young player who we’re really looking forward to working with. He’s an Albanian youth international and this is a great opportunity for him to experience senior football.

“We’ve also agreed a dual registration arrangement with Barking for Liam and Charlie. They remain our players and this gives both lads the opportunity to get regular competitive minutes and keep their match fitness when they aren’t getting as much game time with us.

“Overall, we feel the squad is in a much stronger position now. There’s good competition for places and a really positive balance between experience and youth, which is exactly what we wanted.”

Alongside the new arrivals, the club can confirm the departure of Alex Wall and Perri Iandolo.
