On a busy Saturday in Whitstable, after the parade to celebrate the FA Vase win and the presentation of the first team awards on the pitch at the Primcura Healthcare Stadium. the Under 23s had their turn in the evening. The 2024-25 season was the first time that Whitstable had run two Under 23 teams, both under Aaron Lorentson's management team. The Saturday team, once again competed in the Kent County Football League Division One Central & East and finished in ninth place, an improvement on previous seasons. There was also a midweek team entered into the SCEFL Development East. The progress made through the season was pleasing, with a number of players being involved around the first team squad.
Here is a summary of the player awards. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to the management team of Aaron Lorentson, Mason East, Luke Trimmings, Peter Georganos and Neil Barker for all of their hard work.
Players' Player - Tagan Kray
Won with a massive majority of the votes and is a highly respected member of the team with a big future in the game ahead of him and his peers recognised how important he is to the team.
Coaches' Player - Manny Cuttress
Manny has played a key role this year, chipping in with a large proportion of the goals. After starting the season off injured, he turned his form around and has become an ever growing threat to back lines all over Kent with his lethal finishing and speed causing havoc.
Most Improved Player - Louis Cussen
Louis has come into men’s football this year and has adapted very well after a challenging start due to his age. Louis is a strong centre half and has improved loads, becoming one of the first names on the team sheet at such a young age. He has developed consistent performances and has shown the mentality that’s required to be a future first team player.
Manager's Player - Tagan Kray
Tagan placed his trust in the gaffa at the start of the season, after having a few offers elsewhere. This season he has developed amazingly, getting a few first team call ups and also training regularly with them. Tagan has shown resilience and determination to improve and feature in the highest finishing team in the clubs history and he has been a massive part of that.
