Whitstable Town Football Club are delighted to confirm the signing of defender Ryan Bernal.
The 22-year-old arrives at the Belmont having most recently played for Isthmian Premier Division side Lewes, bringing further quality and experience from the level above to Lee Martin’s squad.
An athletic and energetic right-back, Ryan offers plenty on both sides of the ball. His pace and ability to get forward provide a real attacking outlet down the right-hand side, while his experience at Step 3 adds further strength and competition to the Oystermen defence.
Ryan came through the youth setup at Bromley before moving into senior non-league football with Hertford Town. His career has since included spells with Hanwell Town and Aveley before a return to Hertford and, most recently, a move to Lewes.
His time at Lewes saw Ryan gain valuable experience in the Isthmian Premier Division, regularly testing himself at Step 3 and further establishing himself in senior football.
Still only 22, Ryan arrives at the Belmont with plenty of football already under his belt and further potential to develop. He becomes another exciting addition to Lee Martin’s squad as the Oystermen continue to strengthen for the season ahead.
First Team Manager Lee Martin said:
“Ryan has great pedigree and is proven at the level above. He’s a player we’ve admired for a long time as a management team, so we’re delighted to finally get him through the door.
He’s got real quality, plenty of experience at a higher level and is at a great age where there’s still more to come from him.
We know exactly what he can bring to the group and I’m really looking forward to working with him. He’s a fantastic addition to the squad.”
Everyone at Whitstable Town would like to welcome Ryan to the Belmont and wish him every success in an Oystermen shirt.
