What A Wembley Win Means

What A Wembley Win Means

Ron Martin17 May - 01:56

Reaction to a historic FA Vase triumph

We wanted to share some thoughts from those involved with our FA Vase winning team.
Thank you to you all.

Jamie Coyle:
“Firstly, I want to say a huge thank you to all the Oysters that travelled up to Wembley to share this momentous occasion with us all. And to all that couldn’t make the trip, I hope our team has made you proud. The atmosphere you created was something I’ve never experienced before personally and I know you all had a massive impact in getting us over the line. It was a day that will stay with us all forever and to deliver this trophy to the people of Whitstable is the pinnacle of all our careers. This is only the start of our journey together and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.
Up the oysters" Coylie

Matt Longhurst:
“What a day, what a season, what a club! From top to bottom, this has seen so much progress since we joined, but most importantly the alignment of the fans, ourselves, the u23s and the youth section has really grown and this will in turn give us a platform to build. The sponsors too have really been part of the journey and it was so good to be able to spend time with some of them after Sunday's game.
We have so much to build on now, on and off the pitch, so it’s vital we all now pull together to make the next part of the journey successful.
Enjoy the summer and watch this space for updates…” Matt

Steve Clayton and the Board:
"We would have loved to have won promotion back to the Isthmian League, but this unbelievable FA Vase success has done so much to raise the profile of the football club and help us build our connection with the community of Whitstable, which is so important to us all. We would really like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey, as sponsors, volunteers, employees, the management team, players or supporters.
There were many special moments throughout the season with many of course being the whole experience of the weekend at Wembley. One that we were really pleased to have made happen was to arrange for George Dunn to attend the final. Now aged 102, RAF veteran George flew 44 missions in World War II and played for Whitstable, his hometown club, in the late 1940s.
The support we have received this season has been exceptional, both home and away and the thousands that came to the final at Wembley were simply amazing. Whether you attended in person or maybe watched or listened remotely, your support and messages are much appreciated. Let's make sure we continue this journey together next season."

And just a few more words from the management team, players and squad members:

"A dream come true with the best people on earth. Supporters were unbelievable – thank you."
