On a day when it felt more like the middle of July than the middle of September our season got underway...
With four of our squad unavailable it was always going to be a tough day. Minster caught us napping after 2 minutes when we were slow to react to a simple throw in.
Both teams had chances to score the second goal, but it was a well struck free kick by Minster on the 23 minute which left the keeper with no chance.
Whitstable rallied well, a quick break on the right hand side by new signing Louie Valente resulted in him crossing well for Danny Loveridge to poke the ball home.
After the break the game was still very much in the balance, but five minutes in Whitstable weren’t quick enough to react to a corner and Minster scored again.
A ball over the top virtually killed the game off in the fiftieth minute making it 4-1 to Minster.
Encouragingly, Whitstable still didn’t give up and Oli Shaw went through on goal and the ball ended up in the net. (We’ll give the goal to Oli rather than an OG)
The game finished 4-2 to Minster but with four players to come back in I’m sure we’ll have our revenge later in the season at Radfall........
A special mention to Ethan Brown who was injured in the second half. Hopefully it’s not to serious and we see you again soon.!!
