Under 13s (A) grap a last second equaliser

Today we were back in league action with an away fixture against a very big and physical Ramsgate team.

The pitch was small and the grass was to long for fast flowing football which meant the first half was a bit of a tackle fest in the middle of the park. Both teams created chances with Whitstable’s probably slightly more clear cut.

The physical nature of the game continued until half time with several referee decisions going in our favour when Ramsgate took it to far.

Two minutes after halftime Ramsgate’s talented striker managed to get clear of our defenders and got away a fantastic strike, goalkeeper Joe Allen made an amazing save but unfortunately the ball fell to a Ramsgate player who slotted home with ease.

Through the second half both teams had chances and GK Joe made further first class saves keeping us in the game all the way until the end. The clock was ticking...

With only two and a half minutes remaining Whitstable were still desperately seeking an equaliser. Off came a defender and back on with another striker.

With only seconds remaining Whitstable won a corner and Brandon Hosking passed it comfortably to the first defender who kindly sliced it out for another corner..

The ref told the players ‘times up’ after this corner. Ramsgate even subbed back on a giant defender.

This time Brandon got his corner right and it looked to be landing on Derin’s head until he was held back.. fortunately Louie Valente had lost his marker and smashed a half volley into the roof of the net. Final whistle, no time for the restart. 15 man hug session as it felt more like a win the a draw....

This was a great team performance and really good moral booster...
