ITS NOT ALWAYS ABOUT FOOTBALL

On Remembrance Sunday peoples minds are rightly on things more important than football.
This week we were away to a determined Sturry team who’s results show they are improving with every match.
After lots of rain the pitch was very heavy under foot.
From the first whistle Whitstable started very brightly and were by far the best team for the first 15minutes creating several great chances forcing a few great saves and a goal line clearance.
However Sturry rallied and some how, against the run of play, went 2-0 up after twenty minutes..
Sturry then won a corner. Central defender Zack Silcock bravely tried to head clear however the out rushing goalkeeper also committed 100% to being first to the ball. The resulting collision saw Zack end up (seemingly) knocked unconscious in the goal mouth.
The next few minutes saw Zack assessed, made comfortable and an ambulance called.
The care and compassion shown by all coaching staff, supporters and players alike kept Zack smiling until the Ambulance arrived.
Fortunately the story has a happy ending and Zack’s injuries were not to serious.
We all wish him a full and speedy recovery and look forward to his return when he’s fit and ready.
An incident like this serves as good reminder that the players wellbeing, health and fitness is by far the most important part of everything we do. That also goes for Sturry FC who were fantastic in their support throughout the entire incident.
