Under 9s A final game off the season

Today we were facing Herne Bay Harriers at Radfall in our last game of the season. It was a very blustery morning so we knew it was going to make for a difficult game against a team we have had mixed results with in the past.

We were quick to start and Fin managed to score a very early goal. There was some good passing between Fin and Dylan which lead to Dylan scoring his first goal. Herne Bay were defending well but they couldn’t stop Fin from burying the ball in the top corner from the edge of the box. Josh took a very good corner which was received by Dylan who went onto score a great goal. Another good cross from Josh to Joel followed which enabled Joel to score a cracking goal from the edge of the box.

Unfortunately Frank got injured during a tackle early on in the first half. We all hope he is recovering well.

Herne Bay came out fighting in the second half and it wasn’t long before they pulled back a couple of goals. Nathan, Will, Elian and Joseph defended extremely well and made it difficult for Herne Bay. Will made a couple of good runs towards the goal battling hard and taking the ball around a number of players. Our keeper Noah and the Herne Bay keeper both made some good saves and took full advantage of the windy conditions when it came to their goal kicks. Things were not slowing down and Fin managed to chip the ball over the keeper, who had come out low, giving him his hat trick.

It was a great game to end the season and we are all very proud of the boys and the effort they have not only put into today but the whole season.
