Singing in the rain

Now, I don't care what the weather man says
When the weatherman says it's raining
You'll never hear me complaining, I'm certain the sun will shine.

Well the sun didn't shine and there were a few complaints! (As the game went ahead at the same time as the rugby). Still the boys were all keen and we were back to a full strength squad of ten.

First task was to find a parking space! Luckily the pitch offered plenty of room as we started with the same 7 who played the week before. Louis in goal, Alfie and Max P at the back, Kasper centre mid, Flynn captaining on the left, Fin right and Harry up front. We rotated subs with Otis, Max B and Daley all playing their part in a positive team performance.

The first half we played into the wind and rain and competed in an even contest. The pitch wasn't the best, but we endeavoured to play a nice passing game. Alfie was getting a lot of the ball and using all his skills to create chances. All the lads worked hard in tough conditions, none of them shying away from the tackle and all encouraging each other. Our reward came from a corner by Fin which Alfie managed to pass across to Harry who smashed it home.

Harry has been great in the past couple of matches and was on hand again for our second, his free kick coming back off the bar to be turned in by Alfie. All level at halftime.

As the weather got worse we made most of the chances in the second half. Louis, Max B and Flynn were solid at the back, disciplined in their positioning and we'll organised. Fin took over in goal and kept a clean sheet. Daley and Otis offered great energy in midfield and Kasper played well in the centre of the pitch. Alfie continued to create and Harry had two more efforts hit the woodwork as we pushed for a winner. We don't give man of the matches but if we do I think most watching would agree that Max P had a stormer. He thrives in these conditions, winning every tackle and bossing the game. Over the last few weeks he has added composure to his passing as well. A good positive team performance in terrible conditions.

It is with some sadness that I have to report that it was discovered that most of our supporting parents seemed to have been enjoying hot beverages from Costa coffee, whilst the management team was again omitted from the order. It should also be noted that there has been no cake on offer either for weeks. I don't know how they sleep at night!

Big thanks for Steve for the coats though, came in handy! Cheers.
