A game of two halves

A nice home game at Radfall, saw us nearly at full strength of 9, but still missing one ill player with Otis.

The problem was our opponents had not been so fortunate and a few late drop outs meant that they were a player short. We agreed to play 6 rather than 7 a side, but in the first half our generosity proved our undoing. The boys had been accustomed all season to our 2-3-1 formation and we opted to play 2-2-1 with the smaller numbers, however this left us exposed in the middle of the pitch and Herne Bay took advantage taking the lead.

The boys battled well and looked dangerous from corners again. we got our reward when a Finn corner was knocked in by Alfie.

Louis made some great saves to keep us in the game as we approached half time.

We lost Harry, who had worked hard in midfield, at half time as he went off to the Spurs game (a great 5-0 win for Jose's boys). The lads regrouped and we switched to a 2-3 formation with Finn in goal, Max B and Max P at the back and the midfield three of Kasper, Alfie and Daylee given free reign to attack. Wave after wave of attacks were finally rewarded as we added another goal from Alfie and lastly a thunderbolt from Daylee who got his first of the season with a rocket into the top corner. The Max duo were strong at the back and Finn solid in goal. Flynn and Louis both came off the bench to maintain the momentum and ensure we held on for a deserved win.

The game was played in a lovely spirit by both teams, well played all.

Today's cakes were Millionaire shortbread, a lovely offering. Fred is this weeks star baker!
