Close encounter

Whilst England were beating the Aussies in the Rugby world cup quarter final, WTFC U9s made our way down to Broadstairs for a match against Ramsgate FC. Having just edged an encounter earlier in the season we knew we would be in for a tough game.

What we didn't expect was the match to be played on a pitch resembling an allotment!

Half term had depleted our squad to 8. With Fin in goal, Alfie, Daley, Max B, Flynn, Kasper, Harry and Otis were tasked with negotiating the opposition and the cabbages !

We started well and the lads showed good spirit throughout and battled their way through the first half. Not too many leeks at the back. On a congested pitch there wasn't mushroom in the midfield. Again a corner proved to be our route to goal as Kasper smartly turned in to equalise into the old onion bag. Lettuce be said they were the better side but we went in level at half time.

The second half was much of the same and we found a opponent's who were slightly quicker and stronger in each area, as they turnip the pressure. The lads showed good spirit and didn't let their heads drop after going behind. The referee had a great game and it was all played in a lovely spirit.

The final whistle blew, that's shallot said the ref. It had bean a marrow defeat.
