After a couple of recent friendly defeats, Whitstable came away with a deserved win, that will see them head into the new season with some confidence.

Whitstable started the game strongly although the first chance fell to Tankerton, whose striker was through one on one with just the goalkeeper to beat. But Nathan produced a good save, and the subsequent corner came to nothing.
A couple of minutes later, good work from Zac and Seb produced a corner for Whistable, but similar to Tankerton, it came to nothing.
An end to end game then provided a chance to Tankerton, but the free kick opportunity from outside the box flew over the bar.
It was then Whitstable's chance to attack, and Seb produced a good run down the right, but was unable to get a cross into the box, and soon after, Alex had a shot at goal, but that went over.
However, not long after, on the fifteen minute mark, Whitstable went ahead. A free-kick was won just outside the box, and Alfie showed his eye for goal, with his shot heading over the goalkeeper and into the net. 0-1 (15 mins).
Just after the restart, a Tankerton corner came to nothing, and Seb then thought he was through on goal, but the offside flag stopped him in his tracks. More pressure from Whitstable saw a shot from Alex turned away by the goalkeeper for a corner, and from the resultant kick, the ball fell to Freddie, who shot over the bar.
A scrappy few minutes followed leading up to half time, and it was Tankerton who had some half chances during this period, but some good defensive work from James and Keegan at the back, a free-kick that skimmed the top of the bar, and a couple of good saves from Nathan kept the game at 1-0.
Just before the break, Whitstable had a final chance to increase the scoreline, but Kieran's shot from outside the box went sailing over the bar.
HALF TIME: Tankerton Colts 0 Whitstable Town FC U12s A 1.
Whitstable started the second half strongly, and a good one-two between Alex and Kieran on the right hand side, resulted in a chance for Alex, but his shot from an angle went just wide.
However, the resulting goal kick culminated in a mix-up between the Tankerton goalkeeper and defence, and the melee somehow resulted in a defender heading into his own goal, under pressure from Seb. 0-2 (33 mins).
Just two minutes later, and Whitstable extended their lead further. An Alfie corner was cleared, but the ball found its way back to Alfie on the left hand side of the box. His low cross along the edge of the box was initially missed by Keegan, but ended up at the feet of Seb, who produced a good shot from 15 yards, into the bottom right hand corner of the net. 0-3 (35 mins).
The next five minutes was all Whitstable, with Alfie shooting wide, Freddie volleying wide from a corner, and another corner just going over the head of Keegan.
However there was a sting in the tail on forty minutes, as Tankerton found their way through the Whitstable defence, and their striker produced a good lob from just outside the box, over the advancing Nathan, and into the net. 1-3 (40 mins).
The next ten minutes were fairly scrappy, as Whitstable tried to recover from the goal, but Jack continued his hard work in his defensive midfield role to keep Tankerton at bay, and the win was all but sealed ten minutes from time, when Alfie's great shot from outside the box was parried onto the bar by the Tankerton goalkeeper, but the rebound was well picked up by Alex, and his finish from ten yards was excellent. 1-4 (50 mins).
A few minutes later, Alfie produced another fine shot from the edge of the box to increase the lead further. 1-5 (54 mins).
One more opportunity arose before the end, with Alfie feeding in Seb on the right, but his shot was saved for a corner.
