Due to fixture congestion at Radfall the Under 14s ended-up playing this home match at Victoria Rec - the ground of our opponents, Canterbury Eagles. In contrast to last week the weather was dry, bright and reasonably warm for early November; similar to last week this Council-owned pitch was covered with sand and the grass needed a cut!
This was a performance which was very good from start to finish. In possession the team was calm and played some excellent passing football. Out of possession Whitstable pressed the Eagles throughout, ensuring their star players were unable to influence the game.
Whitstable's first goal came in the 25th minute when a great pass reached the advancing Kobey Love who slotted home to open the scoring. A minute later the lead was doubled and it was Kobey who scored again when one on one with the keeper.
Whitstable were in control for the rest of the first half but after the break Eagles upped their effort levels and came more into the game, leading to a goal 12 minutes into the second half. Whitstable re-established their hold on the game and started creating further chances. Reward came with just over five minutes remaining when a through ball found the advancing Ben Burgess who calmly placed the ball beyond the Eagles' keeper.
