Returning to our home pitch after weeks on the road the team didn't exactly receive the homecoming it was hoping for. With our goalkeeper still sidelined after recovery from concussion, this week Jacob and Herbert pulled on the gloves for half the match each.
Whitstable started slowly, as has seemed to be the pattern over recent matches. Two goals were conceded in the first half when there was little between the two teams.
The halftime break gave the Whitstable coaches the chance to reiterate two of the team's objectives for the day - working hard to win the second ball and then maintaining possession. Despite the length of the untended grass making it difficult, the Whitstable team played some excellent passing football throughout the second half. Tom Farley covered great distances breaking-up Dynamo's play and Ben Burgess kept the ball moving and prompted the rest of the team. Whitstable created over ten goal chances in this period - at least three times as many as Dynamo - but only forced the opposition goalkeeper into one save. Unfortunately, at the other end Dynamo scored two more goals, one of which was a rather bizarre incident out of nowhere!
So, in terms of results the year ended disappointingly but the second half performance showed promise and the team remained true to the way we want to play. With the league cup semi final starting 2019 followed by our remaining nine league matches there is still much to look forward to for the rest of the season.
