Excellent performance

Whitstable moved into the semi finals of the East Kent Youth League Cup - John Smith Memorial Cup - after a very good performance at Victoria Recreation Ground.
Despite having most of the play in the opening exchanges, Whitstable conceded the first goal as Canterbury created a couple of chances and put the second away after 12 minutes. Whitstable continued to dominate play but Canterbury netted a second against the run of play after 26 minutes. Within a minute Whitstable's captain - Jacob Couzens - ran onto a great through ball and finished confidently and the half finished at 2-1 to the Eagles.
Stanley Griffiths gave Whitstable the perfect start to the second half by scoring within the first minute and then his second two minutes later. Whitstable remained in control, playing some good passing football, and strengthened their position when Herbert Dunn slotted the fourth after 54 minutes. Play was camped in the Canterbury half with chances aplenty for Whitstable before Kobey Love put the icing on the cake with the fifth goal. Canterbury nabbed a very late third as the game drew to a close.
This was an excellent performance by the whole Whitstable squad, not entirely reflected in the score line, which sees them through to a tough semi final against high-flying Woodnesborough Colts.
