On a very muddy Sunday morning, the Whitstable Town U9 Girls lined up to play Rising Stars.
Despite a few early goals by the opposition the girls kept their cool, fighting hard and applying continual pressure meant we held our own. A very determined Lottie came on before half time scoring our first goal.
After a few changes at half time they came back on with the same determination and drive, despite being behind. A composed Lois won the ball at the half way line and thundered down the pitch seeing an opportunity to strike the ball from the edge of the box scoring another goal.
Rising starts battled hard managing to get the ball past Flora in goal.
With real grit and fighting spirit, Ava pushed forwards and was able to score, a particularly proud moment for her as her Granddad and our kit sponsor (Bugsy’s Bowling), had come along to watch.
Ava and Lottie had many further attempts on goal and Lottie was able to find the goal to bring the score level. Both teams continued to work hard to get ahead and Rising Stars managed to get one last ball in the net just before the final whistle blew.
Player of the match: Maggie Lee (Outstanding footwork!)
