WHITSTABLE TOWN 2 FAVERSHAM TOWN 3
Friendly
Thursday December 22 2022 19.45
Attendance 218
Neighbours Whitstable and Faversham played a friendly at the Belmont on Thursday evening. It gave both managers the chance to look at some players and prepare for their forthcoming Christmas matches. Whitstable had not played since December 10th following the postponement of their fixture at Lordswood. Recently appointed Faversham manager Sammy Moore has been given the challenge of rescuing their season with the team currently bottom of the Isthmian South East Division and has made a number of new signings. The attendance for this friendly, a few days before Christmas, was a healthy 218.
Whitstable began well and took the lead in the 4th minute when Rodney Eruotor finished a right wing cross at the back post. Victor Aiyelabola added a second from the penalty spot in the 22nd minute after he was brought down in the box. Faversham gradually got themselves into the game and a good curling finish into the top corner by Zak Ansah made it 2-1 in the 39th minute. Both teams played some good football, but Faversham saw more of the ball in the second half and were rewarded with an equaliser from the edge of the box on 60 minutes. The winning goal came in the 74th minute after the ball was crossed from the left and eventually swept into the bottom corner from close range.
Thank you to Faversham for the game and also to all who attended - have a Happy Christmas.
Football returns to the Belmont with a home league fixture against Canterbury City on Tuesday 27th December at 3pm.
