AFTER A WINNING START, ATTENTION TURNS TO THE CUP
After a great start to the new league campaign beating Punjab United 2-1 at home in front of a fantastic crowd of 625, we now switch our focus to The Emirates FA Cup, as we travel to face Lingfield FC in the Extra Preliminary Round.

Lingfield, who play in the Southern Combination Premier Division, will provide a new kind of test in what promises to be a competitive tie at The Peter Humphreys Memorial Ground, Steyning Town’s home ground. With both sides looking to build early-season momentum, there's plenty at stake beyond just progression in the competition.

ABOUT OUR OPPONENTS
Lingfield FC come into the match eager to make their mark in this season’s FA Cup. They’ve been a consistent outfit at Step 5 level and are known for being well-drilled and hard to break down. Last season, they enjoyed some solid cup performances and will no doubt be looking to go at least one better this time around.

While the neutral venue adds an extra element to the tie, Lingfield’s familiarity with Southern Combination grounds may give them a slight edge but we’ll be going into this full of confidence after our spirited league opener.

WHAT’S AT STAKE
The winners of Saturday’s tie will progress to the Preliminary Round of the FA Cup and pick up £1,125 in prize money, with the losing side collecting £375. Both sides will be hungry for the boost, both financial and psychological that cup success can bring so early in the season.
