Match Preview

Following our trip to St. Paul's Sports Ground on Saturday, we will be back at The Belmont Stadium on Tuesday, where we'll be hosting Hollands & Blair under the floodlights. The last time we welcomed Blair to The Belmont Stadium, Richard Styles was still our manager. George Benner opened up the scoring for them with a goal in the 42nd minute, as we closed in on half-time. At the break, our players had a chance to reflect and regroup ahead of the second half. Within three minutes of the second half, Matt Gething brought us level, but Blair responded with a goal from Tom Walmsley in the 49th minute to take the lead once again. Despite our valiant efforts, we were unable to get back level with the visitors.

Since then, Marcel was appointed as the new manager, and has recorded two wins in two matches against Blair away at their Star Meadow ground. The first one came just after their new 3G pitch was installed during the 2022-23 season, with us leaving as 2-3 winners. Goals from Harry O’Donnell (58’), Rob Gillman [OG] (72’), and Harry Gamble (86’) earned us three away points. The most recent fixture was in October when we managed to leave as 0-3 winners after a clinical performance. Josh Oliver opened the scoring from the spot in the 18th minute, Josh Williams scored in the 33rd minute to extend our lead and Josh Oliver got his second goal in the 53rd minute when Josh Williams threaded a pass through the defence for him to strike home at the near post.

Marcel and the team will be aiming to secure their third consecutive win against Blair, since Marcel was appointed. Among the visitors, there are some familiar faces, including Dean Grant, who played for our team last season before leaving early into the new season. Other players who have previously played for Whitstable include Tom Walmsley, George Benner, Harry Brown and Sam Stace. Blair are now, of course, managed by former Whitstable manager Scott Porter and his coaching team includes Mark Lane, Darren Anslow and Shaun Welford, all with past Whitstable Town connections.

If you plan to travel to the ground via vehicle, please use the postcode CT5 4LN as it will take you directly to the car park entrance. We would like to remind you that the car park has limited space, so if it is full, we kindly ask you to park in a respectful manner on the surrounding roads. On the other hand, if you are coming from the town or train station, you can make your way to the ground via the pedestrian gate.
