Monkton FC U10’s v Whitstable Town Juniors FC U10’s – 14/09/19
We kicked off our first match of the season in the East Kent Youth League on a very warm and sunny September afternoon against Monkton FC. Both teams started well and Monkton had three early shots on target which were all saved by our keeper Noah. The ball was getting passed around well when it landed at the feet of Finley who crossed it in and somehow the ball skimmed across the line giving us our first goal. There was some top defending by Will, Elian and Nathan making sure that Monkton were unable to progress to the goal. Joel was next to have a shot, taking the ball around two players before smashing the ball into the back of the net. Very quickly after kick off, Joel had the ball again and made a good pass through to Ted who took his shot but the keeper saved it only for it to fall to the feet of Frank who scored giving us our third goal. Monkton had a good run towards goal late in the second half but Noah was not letting anything passed diving across the goal to make another good save.
About a minute into the second half, Finley scored a cracking goal from the left side of box that the Monkton keeper could do nothing about. It wasn’t long before Finley had another shot that was saved well by the keeper but Ted was there for the rebound giving us another goal. Monkton battled hard in the second half but Joseph, Josh and Frank managed to win the tackles not letting Monkton get a shot at goal. Once again Finley was powering towards the goal and took another great shot that that went straight over the keepers head and into the back of the net. Finley then had a last minute shot at goal that was saved very well by the Monkton keeper.
The boys played extremely well today in a new league and we hope this is a sign of exciting things to come.
