u10s great team performance

It was chilly afternoon at Radfall for our game against Lyminge Youth today. We had a limited team with several players unavailable so knew that the boys were going to have to work hard.

The game started off very quickly with a good run towards goal but the ball went out for a Lyminge throw in. Leon managed to win this throw and floated the ball into the back of the net. Very quickly from the restart Leon had another shot at goal which was saved and rebounded to Finley who scored. Lyminge fought back taking the ball around our keeper Noah and into the bottom corner. We kept going with some strong defending from Elian and Joseph and some good runs from Will. The goals kept coming with Finley getting another two and Joseph and Leyton both getting on the score sheet before half time. The Lyminge keeper made several great saves in the first half and the deficit could have been a lot more if it was not for his performance.

The second half kicked off with Lyminge coming out fighting. They had a run towards goal but this was intercepted by Elian and booted up the pitch. Nathan found this ball and with a quick look, picked out Finley who scored once again. Lyminge then had the ball and kicked it forward only for it to roll straight into Noah’s hands. Noah took a quick kick which reached the edge of the box where Finley was waiting and netted the ball again. It wasn’t long before Nathan found Finley and the ball was back in the goal. Will had a good run and shot at goal. The ball beat the keeper but a Lyminge defender was there to clear it off of the line. Nathan then went on one of his many runs but this time he managed to get the goal he had been craving. Lyminge were not giving up and had a couple of shots on target in quick succession. Noah made the initial saves and then smothered the ball to ensure that Lyminge could not take advantage of the rebounds. Will continued his runs towards goal, always looking up to see who was available. On this occasion it was Finley and I don’t think I need to say what happened next. Leyton also had several runs today and very late into the second half he had a shot that was on target and Finley tapped it over the line just to make sure it went in. Leyton was back on the ball very quickly after the restart and managed to get his second goal. As in the first half you could not fault the Lyminge keeper, pulling off a number of great saves.

Well played today boys!

Man of the Match was awarded to Will for his numerous assists.

Goal scorers were:
Finley with 8
Leyton with 2
Joseph with 1
Leon with 1
Nathan with 1
