Chartham Sports Club U10’s v Whitstable Town FC U10’s

Today we travelled to the beautiful but cold Chartham Downs.

The game started well for us with a very good early effort by Frank. There was some great play between Nathan, Leon and Ted which led to a shot that went just past the post. We continued to pile on the pressure with a quick throw from Frank to Ted who crossed the ball to Leon who had a good go at goal. Chartham started coming forward but some good defending by Will and Joseph made sure that Chartham could not get near the box. We were on the attack again which led to some great passing between Finley and Nathan who then put the ball forward to Leon who took another good shot. Josh was next to step in and defend well winning the ball and taking it on a run. Chartham won the ball back and were heading towards the goal when they were awarded a free kick on the edge of the box. The free kick was taken and was saved comfortably by Noah. Noah took his kick and it fell to Ted who shot but it was saved very well by the Chartham keeper. Towards half time there were a couple of late shots from Leyton and Finley which the keeper made sure were covered.

The second half started well for us with a good run from Ted who was fouled on the edge of the box. The referee played the advantage and Frank went on to score in his first game back after being out for 10 weeks with an injury. We were straight back on the ball with great play from Frank to Joseph and then through to Leyton who scored our second goal. Very quick from the restart Leyton was back on the ball and scored another goal. Will and Nathan were defending very well and Nathan blocked a good shot from Chartham that went out for a corner. Chartham crossed the ball into the box which was punched away by Noah only for it to fall to the waiting striker who put the ball in the back of the net. Chartham were pushing forward when there was a foul on the edge of the box and Chartham were once again awarded a free kick that Noah saved well. There were some good runs by Frank, Finley and Josh but we were unable to get another break. Nathan consistently defended well and took the ball forward on a number of occasions. The second half was coming to an end when Leon was on the attack. Chartham defended the ball very well, not giving up and denying Leon of getting a shot in. It was then us that were on the defence with Noah having to pull off two late saves in order to keep the score line the same. The last kick of the game was another terrific effort from Leon that was once again denied by the Chartham keeper.
