Herne Bay Youth U10’s v Whitstable Town U10’s

Today we were playing on the 3G pitch at the Herne Bay Sports Hub against an organised Herne Bay Youth team.

Herne Bay started strong meaning Joseph, Nathan and Will had to step into defensive mode straight away. Herne Bay forced the corner which was caught comfortably by Noah. The ball was kicked up the pitch to Joseph who had a go at a long shot which was on target but saved by the keeper. It wasn’t long before Herne Bay were storming down the pitch, managing to get through everyone and scoring their first goal. We came back fighting with some very good shots from Finley but the keeper was saving them well. Herne Bay won another couple of corners but Noah was there to catch all of them. There was some good passing between Nathan and Ted and a good ball through to Josh who scored. Herne Bay came straight back at us with another goal and we responded with an excellent timed pass from Finley to Josh who scored his second goal. Herne Bay piled on the pressure with a good shot at goal which was saved by Noah who then jumped back up to save the rebound but unfortunately the third attempt hit the back of the net. Just before half time Herne Bay were awarded a penalty but they were unable to hit the target.

The second half started just as strong as the first half with Herne Bay having some early runs towards goal. There was some good play between Ted and Joel leading to a good shot at goal. We won a free kick on the edge of the box which Joel struck well but the keeper had it covered. The keeper took his kick which Nathan won and took the ball towards the goal. Josh turned with the ball and took a shot which rebounded off of the keeper to Finley who put the ball in the back of net. Herne Bay then responded with another two goals in quick succession. There continued to be good defending by Elian, Joseph and Will and some great saves by Noah. Josh, Finley, Joel, Ted and Nathan all had shots but couldn’t get the ball passed the keeper. Herne Bay had a number of attempts at goal late in the second half, all of which were saved well by Noah.
