Great performance from all the squad

Since lockdown the boys have battled in every game, worked tirelessly, trained hard and continued to try and play decent football. For one reason or another things have quite clicked or we haven't had the rub of the green. Thankfully on Saturday 15th May away at Woodnesborough, things were different, the lads put in an outstanding performance, played some great football and showed the watching supporters just what a great team they are. We all left proud of them and buzzing from how well each and every one of them had played.

It was great to have the full 10 player squad fit and available for the game, on a big pitch both teams agreed to go for a 9 a side game in preparation for next season. Having played the U11s the week before, the lads were aware of the formation we are looking to play with 3 defenders, 4 in midfield and 1 striker.

Louis was back in goal, it was great to see him and when called upon he made some important saves. He didn't lose concentration and worked well distributing the ball calmly from the back.

Max P put in another all powerful defensive display, tackling strongly and driving forward on some great runs, one of which culminated in a great assist.

Philip was out of goal for this one and following great attitude in previous training and matches, he was handed the captains armband and led by example. He offering great vocal encouragement to his teammates and making the right decisions with his positioning and passing.

Finlay started in defence and moved into midfield, he offered great energy throughout and never shirked a tackle. As always Finlay put in a committed and strong display all over the pitch.

Kasper was part of the central midfield axis and controlled the middle of the park, topping his performance with a Maradona spin practiced on the training pitch and a smart finish for his goal.

Isaac was the hat trick hero bursting forward and frequently finding himself in the opposition penalty area, despite playing in defence. Isaac produced the great finishing and skills as we have come to expect.

Max B was mostly on the left of midfield, but is turning into a genuinely two footed player, his speed and skill causing all sorts of problems for the opposition, he finished the first half with a cracking goal into the top corner.

Daylee gave an all action display, starting in midfield and moving up front, he frequently found himself in great positions and got his reward with a nice second half goal. He showed some lovely skills on the ball.

Flynn started in attack and moved to the right wing, where he was able to get in some great crosses and got an assist. Also put in a dozen or so excellent corners, as well as hitting the post.

Alfie was the assist king, setting up four of our goals, with great unselfish play. Alfie showed great close ball control and jinking runs that opened up the opposition defence, some great final passes meant we were able to take advantage of his skilful play.

A fantastic performance from the team as a whole and bodes well for next season, we have a really strong squad with each of the lads able to step up and perform at a high level. Well played all.
