The Team played their first fixture on Friday night. Steve Aslett, manager said… "I want to start this report with a big thank you to everyone who helped get this team ready for our first game."
We started the campaign against Woodnesborough, who won the league and cup last year, so we knew we would be up against an excellent side. We started brightly and saw a lot of the ball, but their experience of playing together over six years began to tell; by halftime, we were down 5-0.
Come the second half, they made three substitutions, and we had the bare 7, so it was always going to be difficult, but again they came at us, and the experience showed. The final score was 10 - 0. One big positive was that none of our heads dropped, and we kept going to the very end.
In this first game, we have learned what we need to do to improve, and with every training session/game we have, I know this will happen.
