It was a tough outing for Whitstable Walking Football as they travelled to face Bay City Strollers, coming away on the wrong end of a 5–1 scoreline.

The Strollers were quick to settle and took advantage of some defensive lapses, with Whitstable conceding two soft goals in the first half. Both were calmly dispatched, leaving the visitors chasing the game. A couple of further goals followed from sloppy mistakes at the back, and by half-time Bay City had built a commanding lead.

Whitstable’s goalkeeper did his part to keep the scoreline respectable, pulling off a couple of good saves, but Bay City’s pressure eventually told as they added a fifth from the penalty spot.

There was, however, a silver lining for the visitors. Paul opened his account with his first league goal for the club — a well-taken finish that gave Whitstable something to cheer. There was also a proud moment as both Geoff and Paul made their debuts, slotting into the side and gaining valuable experience at this level.

Despite the heavy defeat, Whitstable showed flashes of resilience and will take encouragement from the positives as they look to tighten up defensively in the next fixture.
